Beach Wedding Trends We Love

Updated: May 7

When you hear the words "Destination Wedding", somehow the very first picture in your head is of a beautiful white sand beach, a dreamy dress sparkling in the sunshine and a back drop of the bluest ocean waters you've ever seen... and that's exactly what Turks and Caicos specializes in!

But there's so much more to a beach wedding and we're here to round up some of our fave trends this season. Whether you're a laid back boho bride, an Etsy decor enthusiast or fancy something with a real Caribbean kick to it - we've got some amazing ideas just for you if you're celebrating your nuptials here in TCI!

1. BE BOLD

The beach is beautiful but also super neutral - this means you can play around with a bright, bold color scheme that will really pop against your background!

One fun way to incorporate this trend, if you're a mismatched bridesmaids kinda gal is to pick a range of vibrant hues and get your girls to pick a dress within the color scheme - the brighter the better!

Another option we love is to offer the wedding party parasols in pops of turquoise or pink! Super useful for keeping everyone cool (and not sweating off the makeup your MOA just spent an hour putting on!) and they can add a really fun element to use in your wedding party photo poses!

2. SHOE VALET

While you might be hosting your cocktail hour and dinner up at the hotel deck or inside a private villa where cute heels will totally work, chances are you'll be saying your "I do's" while dipping your toes in the sand.

Offer your guests a shoe check area as they make their way down to the beach. This way they still get to wear those beautiful heels to sip cocktails and cheers the newly wedded couple, but they won't break an ankle watching you walk down the aisle.

You could even supply a bunch of cute flip flops for everyone to swap into that can act as part of your beachy themed wedding favors!

And speaking of favors:

3. BAMBOO FANS

If you're getting married in the tropics it's going to be hot. Fan favors aren't a new trend but we love this spin on an old fave. Bamboo fans are so much more durable than the fold out paper ones, and if you love the boho look they will go beautifully with your theme. Plus chances are your guests will actually want to take them home and maybe even display them as decor.

There are some very cute heart shaped options on Etsy or you can opt for the more traditional leaf shape, either way they will be much appreciated by your guests! They are also a great place to pop your Act of Services for the day, tied on with a ribbon or jute string.

If you're having a small wedding or you're really going all out on your budget, another very cute option to go with your bamboo fans is straw fedoras for the boys! Keeps everyone looking super stylish and helps avoid sunstroke - win win!

4. CEREMONY SOUND SYSTEM

This isn't trending yet but we're gonna make it happen! Having your ceremony on the beach is truly magical but it's also generally quite breezy and there aren't any outlets down there in the sand.

If you want your guests to be able to hear those beautiful vows you've spent months crafting, you're going to need a speaker down on the beach. Luckily, we offer ceremony set ups with a self powered sound system so you can set it up wherever you like, no power cables needed.

Don't miss out on having the perfect song play for your walk down the aisle, ceremony set ups cost a little extra but are in our minds something you definitely don't want to skip out on.

5. AFTER HOURS PATTIES

If you haven't had the pleasure of eating a fresh warm flaky patty - you're seriously missing out! This traditional Caribbean fare will wow your guests taste buds. Easy to eat with one hand as you sip your last glass of champagne or carry your shoes back up to your room, and will definitely help soak up those cocktails at the end of the night.

A patty is a pastry filled usually with beef or chicken, though there's great veggie options too, and is quite reminiscent of a Cornish pasty. It's delicious and an awesome way to incorporate something locally made into your big day. We highly recommend the beef and cheese - sounds crazy but don't knock it til you've tried it!

We'd love to be a part of it!
